'Valere' = to be worth (intrinsic value). 'Valutare' = to value/evaluate. 'Vale la pena' = 'it's worth it' (very common). 'Non vale!' = 'That's not fair!' / 'That doesn't count!' (in games). 'Valersi di' = to make use of.
