400 short Italian texts with English translations, vocabulary glossaries and comprehension exercises — free, no registration.
Reading is one of the most underrated ways to build Italian fluency. It exposes you to real sentence patterns, natural word order, and vocabulary in context — things that flashcards and grammar drills alone cannot teach. Every text on this page is written at a specific CEFR level (A1 or A2) using only the grammar and vocabulary you’ve learned up to that point.
Each reading comes with a toggleable English translation, a glossary of the 10–15 most useful words in context, and ten comprehension questions with instant feedback. Read the Italian first — try to understand as much as you can without peeking at the translation. Check the glossary for unfamiliar words, then test yourself on the questions. Over time you’ll notice the same structures appearing again and again, and that’s exactly how native-like intuition forms.
