Italian word
spendere
to spend (money)
Looks like
to expend / to spend
to pay out money; to use energy/time
⚠️ The trap
In Italian 'spendere' ONLY applies to money. To spend time say 'passare il tempo', NOT 'spendere tempo'. This is a classic mistake: 'Ho speso tre ore lì' is wrong — say 'Ho passato tre ore lì'.
To say "to pay out money; to use energy/time" in Italian:
spendere is correct for money
"spendere" in English means:
to spend (money)
Example
"Ho speso troppo questo mese."
"I spent too much this month."
