I am calling to briefly introduce our services to you.
'Brevemente' = bre-ve-MEN-te; stress on the third syllable.
Use in the first few seconds of a cold or warm phone call to a potential client, to clearly state the purpose of the call.
'La chiamo per' (I am calling to) is the standard Italian call opener. 'Brevemente' (briefly) signals that you respect their time. Italian cold calling ('telefonata a freddo') requires particular tact — getting to the point quickly is essential.
Mi chiamo [nome] e lavoro per [azienda]. Ho due minuti per parlarle?
My name is [name] and I work for [company]. Do I have two minutes to speak with you?
Requests explicit permission; shows respect
La contatto su suggerimento di [nome] — ci ha parlato di lei.
I am contacting you on the suggestion of [name] — they mentioned you.
Warm call opener using a referral; much more effective in Italy
Ho visto la sua azienda su [fonte] e penso che potremmo essere utili.
I saw your company on [source] and I think we could be useful.
Shows prior research; signals genuine interest
Cold calling in Italy is regulated — commercial calls to consumers require prior consent under GDPR. For B2B calls, the rules are slightly less strict, but using LinkedIn for initial contact before calling is increasingly common and much better received than a completely unsolicited call.
