B1formal

Your contract expires in thirty days — would you like to proceed with the renewal?

Pronunciation

'Scade' = SCA-de; 'sc' before 'a' is a hard 'sk' sound.

When to use it

Use proactively when a client's contract is approaching expiry, to initiate the renewal conversation with enough time for negotiation.

What it means

Proactively contacting a client before their contract expires shows attention and prevents the embarrassing situation of accidental expiry. '30 days' gives enough time to negotiate without being so early that the client is not thinking about renewal yet.

Variations

We are approaching the contract expiry — I am sending you the renewal proposal.

Pairs the notification with an immediate action

I would like to update you on next year's conditions before the expiry.

Frames renewal as an update; less transactional feeling

It renews automatically unless you communicate otherwise to us.

For auto-renewal contracts; important to state clearly

Mini Dialogue

Mi dica come vuole procedere.»

"Dear Ms Testi, your technical support contract expires on 30 April — in approximately thirty days. Would you like to proceed with the renewal on the same conditions as last year? Alternatively, we can evaluate our new Premium plan, which includes 24/7 support. Please let me know how you would like to proceed."

Cultural Note

In Italy, many service contracts include 'tacito rinnovo' (automatic renewal) clauses. As a provider, you must by law notify clients of an upcoming automatic renewal within a certain period (typically 30–90 days). Failure to do so can make the renewal contestable by the client.
