Rule reminder

Advanced Italian regularly nests an exceptive clause within or alongside other subordinate clauses. The exceptive 'a meno che non' clause maintains its own subjunctive regardless of surrounding subordinates. Pay attention to: which verb the exceptive modifies, the sequence of tenses, and whether the subjunctive in the exceptive conflicts with the indicative in adjacent clauses.
