Legal and bureaucratic Italian makes systematic use of absolute constructions derived from Latin administrative style. Common formulas include: 'Visto il decreto n. …', 'Considerato che …', 'Premesso quanto sopra', 'Ritenuto opportuno', 'Accertato che …', 'Sentito il parere di …'. These constructions introduce the grounds (motivazioni) for an administrative act before the operative part (dispositivo). The participle is invariable in fossilised formulas but agrees normally in freer constructions.
