Italian legal and administrative documents make extensive use of absolute constructions. Key expressions: 'Visto il decreto...' (Having regard to the decree...), 'Considerato che...' (Considering that...), 'Premesso che...' (Given that... / Having stated that...), 'Rilevato che...' (Having noted that...), 'Atteso che...' (Whereas... / Given that...), 'Vista la legge n. ...' (Having regard to Law no. ...). These form the 'motivazione' (reasoning) section of administrative acts.
