Rule reminder
Absolute constructions can express different logical relationships depending on context. Temporal: 'once X happened, Y happened'. Causal: 'since/because X happened, Y happened'. Concessive: 'even though X happened, Y still happened' (less common, usually with 'pur' or in context). The same absolute phrase may be ambiguous — context and the main clause determine the reading.
