To convert a subordinate clause into an absolute construction: 1) Remove the conjunction. 2) Put the subject inside the absolute phrase. 3) Change the verb to the past participle (or gerund for present actions). 4) Ensure the past participle agrees in gender and number with the noun it refers to. 5) The absolute phrase typically comes first.
