Italian word
viale
boulevard, tree-lined avenue
Looks like
valley? veil?
no close English cognate
⚠️ The trap
A 'viale' is a wide, often tree-lined road — grander than a 'via'. It sounds like English 'vale' (a valley) or 'veil' but has nothing to do with either. 'Viale Aventino' in Rome is a classic example.
To say "no close English cognate" in Italian:
viale
"viale" in English means:
boulevard, tree-lined avenue
Example
"Il viale principale della città è fiancheggiato da platani."
"The main avenue of the city is lined with plane trees."
