Italian word
via
street, road (address prefix); also 'away' / 'off'
Looks like
via (preposition in English = by way of)
via = by way of, through (preposition)
⚠️ The trap
English uses 'via' only as a preposition ('via London'). Italian 'via' is also the noun for a street (used in addresses), and can mean 'away' (vai via! = go away!). 'Via aerea' = by air, 'via mare' = by sea.
To say "via = by way of, through (preposition)" in Italian:
Via Roma / via aerea
"via" in English means:
street, road (address prefix); also 'away' / 'off'
Example
"Abito in Via Garibaldi, numero dodici."
"I live at 12 Via Garibaldi Street."
