⚠️ The trap

In city centres, 'il Corso' with a capital refers to the main shopping street. In Palermo, 'Corso Vittorio Emanuele' is the city's spine. A 'corso' also means a class/course. Confusing the two is easy for learners.

To say "course = a path; a set of lessons; a race course" in Italian:

Corso Italia / corso di cucina

"corso" in English means:

main street, high street; also a course (academic/culinary)

Example

"Il Corso è pieno di negozi e caffè."

"The main street is full of shops and cafés."
