Ask at check-in before presenting your payment method. While most Italian hotels now accept cards, some smaller ones still prefer cash.
'Accettate' is the second person plural (formal plural) of 'accettare' (to accept). This is the standard way to ask whether a business accepts cards. 'Pagamenti con carta' = card payments. You can also say 'posso pagare con la carta?' (can I pay by card?).

Some family-run hotels offer a small discount for cash
Since 2022, Italian law requires all businesses to accept POS card payments. However, very small guesthouses or B&Bs in remote areas may still have technical problems with their terminals. Carrying some cash as a backup is always wise.
