Rule reminder

Both 'persino' and 'addirittura' express emphasis, but with different nuances. 'Persino' (also 'perfino') means 'even' in the sense of a surprising inclusion — something unexpected is part of the group: 'Persino il professore ha sbagliato' (Even the teacher made a mistake). 'Addirittura' means 'actually / even / downright' in the sense of surpassing expectations or escalating beyond what was anticipated: 'Era addirittura arrabbiato' (He was actually/downright angry). 'Addirittura' often carries a sense of going further than expected, while 'persino' highlights surprising membership.
