Italian newspaper headlines use heavy nominal style: verbs are eliminated or minimized, nouns carry all the information. 'Il governo ha aumentato le tasse' → 'Aumento delle tasse da parte del governo' or simply 'Nuovo aumento fiscale'. Lead sentences also favour nominal constructions and compressed syntax.
