Rule reminder

The Italian news lead (attacco or primo capoverso) answers the 'five Ws': Chi (who), Cosa (what), Dove (where), Quando (when), Come/Perché (how/why). Italian journalism distinguishes between: 'notizia di apertura' (lead story), 'attacco diretto' (hard news lead — the most important fact first), 'attacco descrittivo' (scene-setting lead), 'attacco con citazione' (quote lead). The ideal Italian news lead is concise (30-50 words), uses the passato prossimo for recent events, and avoids editorialising.
