Discourse Connectives — Connettivi Discorsivi·Connective Position and Punctuation
💡

Rule reminder

Connective position matters. Tuttavia and pertanto can be inserted mid-sentence between subject and verb (set off by commas). Quindi almost always comes directly before the verb. Poiché and in quanto introduce subordinate clauses and can begin a sentence. Semicolons are required before connectives joining independent clauses in formal writing.
