Rule reminder

Past time expressions signal which tense to use. 'Ieri', 'l'altro ieri', 'fa' (due giorni fa), 'la settimana scorsa', 'l'anno scorso' pair with the passato prossimo for specific past events. 'Di solito', 'spesso', 'qualche volta', 'sempre', 'mai' pair with the imperfetto for habitual past actions. Context is key.
