Italian word

evadere

to escape (from prison), to evade (taxes), to process (orders)

Looks like

to evade

to avoid or escape from something

⚠️ The trap

Partially a false friend. 'Evadere dal carcere' = to escape prison (correct). But 'evadere le tasse' = to evade taxes. Surprising extra meaning: 'evadere un ordine' = to process/fulfil an order (business Italian).

To say "to avoid or escape from something" in Italian:

evadere is correct, but note special uses

"evadere" in English means:

to escape (from prison), to evade (taxes), to process (orders)

Example

"Il detenuto è evaso dal carcere di notte."

"The prisoner escaped from jail at night."
