stare

to stay, to be (in a state/place), to feel

Looks like

to stare

to look fixedly at something

⚠️ The trap

'Stare' means to be/stay/feel — it does NOT mean to stare (look fixedly). Saying 'ti sto' does not mean 'I'm staring at you'. To stare in Italian say 'fissare' or 'guardare fisso'.

To say "to look fixedly at something" in Italian:

fissare, guardare fisso (for to stare)

"stare" in English means:

to stay, to be (in a state/place), to feel

Example

"Come stai? Sto bene, grazie."

"How are you? I'm well, thank you."
