A2⚖️ Law & Politics
Italian word
potere
power; authority; also: to be able to (verb)
Looks like
power
the ability to do something; authority; electrical power
⚠️ The trap
'Potere' works well for political power. However, electrical power is 'energia elettrica' or 'corrente'. Also, 'potere' as a noun vs. as a verb (modal) causes confusion: 'il potere' = power; 'potere fare' = to be able to do.
To say "the ability to do something; authority; electrical power" in Italian:
potere
"potere" in English means:
power; authority; also: to be able to (verb)
Example
"La separazione dei poteri è fondamentale in democrazia."
"The separation of powers is fundamental in democracy."
