Italian word

incerto

uncertain, unsure, hesitant

Looks like

inert

inactive, not moving or reacting

⚠️ The trap

'Incerto' = uncertain. 'Inerte' = inert/inactive. They sound different but beginners confuse them. 'Sono incerto sulla decisione' = 'I'm uncertain about the decision'. 'Gas inerte' = 'inert gas'. Very different concepts.

To say "inactive, not moving or reacting" in Italian:

inerte (inert); incerto (uncertain)

"incerto" in English means:

uncertain, unsure, hesitant

Example

"Il futuro è incerto."

"The future is uncertain."
