I am out of the office until [date]. For urgent matters, contact [name] at [email].
'Urgenze' = ur-JEN-tse; the 'ge' is soft like the 's' in 'measure'.
Use as an out-of-office auto-reply message whenever you are away from work for more than one day.
The Italian out-of-office message follows the same structure as in English: state when you return, offer an alternative contact for urgent matters. 'Per urgenze' (for urgent matters) is more professional than 'in caso di emergenza' (in case of emergency).
Sarò assente dal [data] al [data]. Risponderò al mio rientro.
I will be absent from [date] to [date]. I will reply upon my return.
Simpler; no alternative contact
In ferie fino al [data]. Per qualsiasi necessità: [email collega].
On holiday until [date]. For any need: [colleague email].
'In ferie' is casual; fine for internal auto-replies
Fuori ufficio: rientro il [data]. Urgenze: [collega] — [telefono].
Out of office: I return on [date]. Urgent: [colleague] — [phone].
Ultra-concise; common in Italian corporate auto-replies
Italian law requires that employees take their annual leave ('ferie'). Most Italians take the majority of their ferie in August, and many offices effectively shut down for the entire month. Setting a proper auto-reply is not just polite — it is expected.
