Argumentative Text — Testo Argomentativo·Formal Essay Register — Choosing the Right Level
💡

Rule reminder

The Italian argumentative essay (testo argomentativo) requires a consistently formal register. This means: (1) impersonal constructions over first person ('si osserva' not 'vedo'); (2) formal connectives ('tuttavia', 'pertanto') over colloquial ones ('però', 'quindi'); (3) complex noun phrases over simple ones ('il deterioramento delle condizioni' not 'le cose che peggiorano'); (4) avoiding contractions, exclamations, and spoken fillers.
