Rule reminder
Emphatic structures are highly context-dependent. The same word ('figurati', 'macché', 'proprio') can have opposite meanings depending on intonation and context. In dialogue, emphatic words signal the speaker's emotional stance: agreement, refusal, surprise, relief, dismissal. Advanced learners must choose not only grammatically correct but pragmatically appropriate emphatics. Key: match the emotional register of the situation.
