💡

Rule reminder

'A meno che (non)' means 'unless' and always requires the subjunctive. The word 'non' after 'a meno che' is an expletive (pleonastic) 'non' — it does NOT make the sentence negative. It is optional in speech but common in writing: 'Vengo, a meno che non piova' = 'I'll come, unless it rains'.
