Fine distinctions: 'anche se' (neutral, real or hypothetical); 'sebbene' (formal, real); 'benché' (formal, slightly more literary than sebbene); 'quantunque' (archaic/very formal); 'nonostante' (preposition + noun, or conjunction + subjunctive); 'malgrado' (similar to nonostante, slightly more formal); 'per quanto' (however much); 'pur' + gerundio (same-subject, formal).
