LITERARY/JOURNALISTIC CONDITIONALS: Literary Italian uses a rich variety of conditional constructions including inverted conditionals (Fosse stato...), literary congiuntivo (ove, qualora), and the imperfect indicative for narrative hypotheticals. Journalistic Italian often uses the conditional for unverified information: 'sarebbe il responsabile' = 'is reportedly responsible'.
Romanzo storico: '_____ vissuto in un'altra epoca, Giulia avrebbe sicuramente cambiato il corso della storia.'
