Rule reminder

While standard È...che clefts use 'che' for all focused elements, Italian also allows specific wh-word connectors when they match the semantic role of the focused element: È qui dove vivo (place), È allora quando capii (time), È così come funziona (manner), È per questo perché sono venuto (reason). These forms are common in spoken Italian and give a stronger emphatic flavour. Both 'che' and the specific wh-word are often acceptable.
