B2 False Friends — False Amiche B2·False Friends: Academic and Formal Register
💡

Rule reminder

Academic Italian has its own set of false friend traps. 'Il corso' = course (of study) as expected, but also 'a river's flow' or 'the course/passage of time'. 'La nota' = grade/mark in academic settings, but also footnote, musical note, or short memo. 'L'esame' aligns with English 'exam', but 'essere in esame' = 'under consideration' (not 'in an exam'). Context is everything.
