Information structure divides sentences into: TOPIC (given/known info, what the sentence is about — marked by dislocation), FOCUS (new/contrastive info — marked by cleft or sentence-final position), and FRAME (contextual setting — marked by frame topics). Mastering these distinctions separates advanced speakers from intermediate ones.
