Rule reminder
At advanced level, reported speech requires simultaneous application of: correct tense backshift chain, appropriate mood (indicative/subjunctive/conditional), pronoun and demonstrative shifts, time/place expression shifts, and appropriate reporting verb that conveys the speech act (affirming, denying, promising, warning, suggesting, etc.).
A friend confides: 'Ho paura che il mio capo sappia di quello che ho detto in quella riunione. Non dovevo parlargli così.' → You report this to another friend:
