Addition connectives in formal Italian link ideas by adding information. 'Inoltre' is the standard formal choice. 'Per di più' adds a stronger, often climactic element. 'Altresì' is very formal/legal. 'In aggiunta' is neutral. 'Tanto più che' adds a reinforcing reason ('all the more so because').
