Rule reminder
Lexical chains (catene lessicali) are sequences of words from the same semantic field that run through a text and create cohesion. Example: 'testo → paragrafo → frase → parola' are all in the semantic field of 'text structure'. Maintaining a consistent lexical chain prevents the reader from having to shift semantic frames. Near-synonyms, hyponyms, superordinates, and collocations all contribute to lexical chains.
