Rule reminder

'A causa di' = 'because of' + noun phrase. It expresses cause through a noun, not a verb. Example: Non siamo usciti a causa del maltempo. (because of the bad weather). Often used for problems/negative causes. Equivalent: 'per via di' (informal).
