Italian word

arguire

to deduce, to infer, to gather (a conclusion)

Looks like

to argue

to give reasons for or against something; to dispute

⚠️ The trap

Complete false friend. 'Arguire' = to deduce or infer logically. To argue (fight or debate) use 'litigare' (heated) or 'discutere' (discuss/debate). 'Hanno litigato per ore' = 'They argued for hours'.

To say "to give reasons for or against something; to dispute" in Italian:

litigare, discutere (for to argue/dispute)

"arguire" in English means:

to deduce, to infer, to gather (a conclusion)

Example

"Da ciò che hai detto, arguisco che non sei d'accordo."

"From what you said, I gather that you disagree."
