Italian word
fotocamera
camera (device for taking photos: phone camera, digital camera)
Looks like
camera (partially)
camera (a device for taking photos/videos; Italian 'camera' means room/chamber)
⚠️ The trap
A major false friend: English 'camera' = Italian 'fotocamera' or 'macchina fotografica'. Italian 'camera' means a room (bedroom = 'camera da letto'). Saying *'ho una bella camera sul telefono'* means 'I have a nice room on my phone', which is nonsense.
To say "camera (a device for taking photos/videos; Italian 'camera' means room/chamber)" in Italian:
fotocamera (for camera); macchina fotografica (traditional term)
"fotocamera" in English means:
camera (device for taking photos: phone camera, digital camera)
Example
"La fotocamera del mio smartphone è migliorata molto."
"My smartphone's camera has improved a lot."
