A2🔤 Letters R & S
Italian word
scena
scene (film/theatre); fuss, row
Looks like
scene
a place or view; a part of a play
⚠️ The trap
Mostly a true cognate. The trap is that in Italian 'scena' is also used for a dramatic outburst ('fare una scena'). English has the same idiom ('to make a scene') so this is consistent — but learners often don't realise Italian uses it too.
To say "a place or view; a part of a play" in Italian:
scena (true cognate — but 'fare una scena' = to make a scene, same as English)
"scena" in English means:
scene (film/theatre); fuss, row
Example
"Ha fatto una scena terribile al ristorante."
"He made a terrible scene at the restaurant."
