A2🔤 Letters R & S
Italian word
regolare
regular, normal; to regulate, to adjust
Looks like
regular
happening at fixed intervals; normal
⚠️ The trap
'Regolare' is both an adjective (regular/normal) AND a verb (to regulate/adjust). English 'regular' is only an adjective. The verb function catches learners — 'regola il volume' does not mean 'it regular the volume'.
To say "happening at fixed intervals; normal" in Italian:
regolare (true cognate — but also a verb!)
"regolare" in English means:
regular, normal; to regulate, to adjust
Example
"Regola il volume della televisione."
"Adjust the volume of the television."
