A2🔤 Letters O & P
Italian word
principale
main, principal, chief
Looks like
principal
adjective: main/chief; noun: head of a school; a sum of money
⚠️ The trap
As an adjective it is a perfect match. But the school 'principal' in Italian is 'preside' or 'dirigente scolastico', not 'principale'. And the financial 'principal' (capital sum) is 'capitale'. Don't use 'principale' as a noun.
To say "adjective: main/chief; noun: head of a school; a sum of money" in Italian:
principale (correct adjective); preside (school principal)
"principale" in English means:
main, principal, chief
Example
"Qual è l'ingrediente principale di questa ricetta?"
"What is the main ingredient in this recipe?"
