recitare

to act (in a play or film); to recite

Looks like

recite

to say aloud from memory (a poem, text)

⚠️ The trap

'Recitare' is the standard Italian word for 'to act' on stage or screen. English 'recite' is much narrower (only saying something from memory). An Italian actor 'recita', but an English actor 'acts', not 'recites'.

To say "to say aloud from memory (a poem, text)" in Italian:

recitare (covers both acting and reciting)

"recitare" in English means:

to act (in a play or film); to recite

Example

"Marco recita nel teatro locale ogni sabato."

"Marco acts in the local theatre every Saturday."
