⚠️ The trap
Cuore and 'core' share a Latin root but diverge in modern usage. Cuore in Italian is always heart (organ or emotion). For the core of an apple say 'torsolo'; for the core of an argument say 'nocciolo'.
To say "the central or most important part of something" in Italian:
nucleo, centro (core as central part)
"cuore" in English means:
heart (both the organ and the emotional concept)
Example
"Ti voglio bene con tutto il cuore."
"I care for you with all my heart."
