Nubile is the formal/legal female counterpart to celibe — used on official documents for an unmarried woman. In casual speech, 'single' or 'non sposata' are preferred. 'Zitella' (old maid) is a pejorative term.

Her identity card stated 'unmarried'.
È ancora nubile a trent'anni — non ha fretta di sposarsi.
She is still unmarried at thirty — she is in no rush to get married.
