Is there a night bus?
'Notturno' — 'not-TUR-no'. Double 't' is held slightly longer.
Ask late at night when normal services have ended and you need to get home or to your hotel.
'Notturno' is the adjective for 'night' (as in nocturnal). Italian cities with night services often prefix the route number with 'N' (e.g., N26). These run less frequently — often every 30–60 minutes.
A che ora finisce il servizio?
What time does the service end?
Asks about the last bus without assuming there is a night service.
C'è un taxi stand qui vicino?
Is there a taxi rank nearby?
Alternative when no night bus exists.
Il servizio notturno passa qui?
Does the night service stop here?
Confirms that this specific stop is on the night route.
Night buses in Italy are a relatively recent addition and not all cities have them. Milan and Rome have the best networks; smaller cities often stop service by midnight, making taxis or rideshare the only option.
