Perception Verbs — Verbi di Percezione·Perception verbs in narrative tense sequences
💡

Rule reminder

In past narratives, 'vedere/sentire + bare infinitive' stays in the passato prossimo or imperfetto depending on whether the perception is a one-off event or repeated/ongoing. The infinitive complement does not carry tense — tense is on the main verb. For 'vedere/sentire che + indicative', choose the tense of the subordinate clause based on the timeline (trapassato prossimo for events prior to the main narrative moment).
