Rule reminder

Colloquial Italian has many expressions that must be replaced in formal writing: 'fare' (do/make) → 'effettuare/realizzare/eseguire'; 'cosa' (thing) → 'elemento/aspetto/questione'; 'tanto' (a lot) → 'considerevolmente/notevolmente'; 'mettere' (put) → 'inserire/collocare/apporre'; 'tirare fuori' (pull out) → 'estrarre/produrre'. Formal Italian avoids over-general verbs.
