Rule reminder

Formal Italian letters and emails follow strict conventions. Openings include: 'Egregio/Gentile + title + surname' (salutation), 'In riferimento a / Con riferimento alla Sua lettera del...' (subject reference), 'Come da accordi...' (as agreed), 'A seguito di...' (following...), 'In risposta alla Sua richiesta...' (in response to your request). Always use 'Lei' (capitalised) for the formal 'you'.
