Rule reminder

Formal Italian uses several modal clause structures: 'in modo tale da' + infinitive (same subject), 'in modo tale che' + congiuntivo (different subject), 'in guisa che' / 'in guisa da' (literary/archaic, similar to 'in modo che'), 'quasi come se' (literary intensifier of 'come se'), 'come a dire' (= that is to say, clarifying a manner). These forms appear in academic writing, legal texts, and classic literature.
