Rule reminder

Italian news passive constructions: 'È stato arrestato un uomo' (A man has been arrested), 'Sono stati sequestrati i beni' (The assets have been seized), 'Viene convocata una riunione' (A meeting is being called). The agent ('da + chi ha fatto l'azione') is often omitted. The passive foregrounds the event, not the actor — ideal for news where the event matters more than who performed it.
